About John Frid
John is a photographer and photography tutor working in the Highlands of Scotland. He takes his inspiration from the outstanding natural beauty of this true wilderness location with it's towering mountains, crystal-clear lochs and rivers, its magical glens and some of the best coastline the world has to offer.
Scotland in general and the Highlands, in particular, is a place dominated by the weather and climate. Historically the land was scoured by ice, creating deep glens and jagged mountains. These days the ice has largely, but not entirely, gone, and it is the wind and rain that continues to shape this magnificent land.
John tries to capture the true nature of the Highland landscape, crafting images that reflect this ancient land. Whilst Scotland is John's home base, he has a broad body of work that includes landscapes from further afield. He also has a growing interest in wildlife and still life photography.
